Let's prepare the backpack for the
WYD 2023

There is still a lot of time to pack, but it is good to get to know the places in Portugal where we will be and what we recommend you bring to live this experience:

We will mainly start in Carvalhos (Porto), having a few days just for ourselves, for the Youth of the Claret Way network. Later, we will move to Lisbon to meet young people from all over the Church and with Pope Francis. There we will also stay for two days after the meeting to wrap up the experience.

It's important to keep in mind that in August the weather is warm and dry. Temperatures can range between 20°C and 30°C, so we recommend that you wear cool and comfortable clothes, such as shorts, t-shirts, and light dresses. It is also important to include swimwear in your luggage in case
outdoor showers are needed.

In addition, it's important to wear comfortable footwear, as many streets in Lisbon are steep and cobbled. It is also advisable to bring a hat or cap to protect yourself from the sun and a light jacket or sweater for cool evenings.

You can see that the activities will be quite lively. If you ve been to another World Youth Day, you dont need us to tell you, but if its your first experience, think of it as a kind of urban summer camp. Everything you bring should be comfortable and "battle-ready," Clothing, footwear, backpack, etc.

As for money, you can carry cash or use credit or debit cards in most places. However, we recommend that you bring some cash for small purchases and to pay at places where cards are not accepted.

As a foreigner, it is important to carry your passport or ID with you at all times. It is also advisable to have a copy of these documents in case you lose or they are stolen.

Enjoy the Claret Way WYD.
